Week 9 Part A

Depending on the type of business you have, your blog, social media, website, etc. will be specific to such, making it different from another type of business' blog.  However, regardless of what type of business you have, adding elements of personal touch in your blog can really work well to capture your audience. The goal of advertising and blogging is to connect with your audience. And how do you make connection? You use emotion, humor, relatable content, this all helps to get the person to remember you and hopefully become a customer. No matter your business, you can always find a way to add a personal touch. It may not connect with everyone, but you'll gain a few new followers or customers with the extra effort.

I really believe there is always room to add a personal touch in a post no matter the topic or the business. Of course you want to get to the underlying point, which is "Buy my product or service." which I really don't think you can be successful at without connecting to your audience.

Relating back to my own business, cookies are a comfort food so naturally I'd like my audience to feel comfortable when interacting on my blog, social media, website and in person. Cookies are fun, not to be taken too seriously. So in my blogs I would add humor and light-hearted topics. Cookies are a taste of home, so I like to touch on memories of home and family to connect with my customers. For example, when the holidays come around again, I could include blog posts about settling in with the family, opening gifts, having a nice dinner and then enjoying cookies for dessert afterwards.  There is a lot of room in my line of work to connect with my audience by adding these personal touches to my blogs and creating a deeper connection with them.

Many businesses do this whether it is a fun and exciting type of business or a more serious type of business such as a law firm or a non-profit to help say, animals or children. They all use some type of play on emotions to connect to it's audience.

Week 10, Part A Researching Email Marketing

For my cookie company I would send newsletters weekly to keep my subscribers informed about the specific locations we will be selling. I currently do not have a typical "brick and mortar" location so I sell in different locations, such as at Farmer's Markets, on the military base, and at the Fashion Valley Mall. Providing a weekly newsletter with that information along with any other relevant information would be my ideal frequency.  Of course, upon subscribing I would send out a Welcome newsletter to thank them for subscribing and offer them a special deal as a thank you. I also like the idea of sending out birthday newsletters yearly to give out a free bag of cookies. I think it's incredibly important to build a relationship with each subscriber so that they trust me and my company and continue to come back. Showing appreciation to each customer and keeping them informed is a great way to do this.  It seems like I am signed up for thousands of newsletters, they pile...

Week 1 Blog Post.

As I sit here trying to figure out how to use this website, I find myself changing the themes over and over to try and get it the way I feel will be the easiest for me and everyone to navigate. I want it to be clear with the most recent blog post showing at the top. I chose this because I didn't want you to have to click on something in order to start reading the post.  The original theme I had chosen was titled "Tasty Treats" and looked like it would be a good layout for dessert recipes, photos of food, etc. I chose that because I thought it would be fitting since I have my own business, a cookie company. But since this blog is just for our class I changed it. I also didn't like how it was set up. I wrote out my whole blog post and then after publishing I went to look at it and realized I didn't like the layout.  So I have now chosen this one based on the initial structure. I also like the colors and feel they fit the vibe I am going for. Hopefully this will be c...
